Renovation Rally a Success for Andover Tennis

The Friends of Andover Tennis raised funds for Andover High School tennis courts earlier this month.

This press release was provided by the Friends of Andover Tennis.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Friends of Andover Tennis held its “Renovation Rally,” hosted by the . tennis team members joined with friends, siblings, parents, and others for socializing and round-robin doubles on IRCC’s courts.

The Friends of Andover Tennis raised over $3,600 as a result of their October kickoff tennis social event, which has helped them reach their baseline amount of over $10,000 as a fund established with ECCF. It's a great start towards raising their share--over half of the cost--of the anticipated $200,000 private-public project.

Nearly 40 took part in the informal competition until rain interrupted play late in the evening and roughly 80 people attended the event. While showing their enthusiastic backing for the foremost goal—raising support to renovate AHS’s badly deteriorating tennis courts—attendees were able to view posters with details of the project and to ask questions. The event turned into a good beginning to a worthy endeavor, with door prizes handed out from such local supporters as SNAP Infusion candy, Thunder Sports, and Roberts Tennis Academy.

Friends of Andover Tennis is a fund of the 501 (c) 3 Essex County Community Foundation. Monetary contributions are still needed to reach the end goal, so please consider making your tax deductible donation in any amount, either by check to “Friends of Andover Tennis Fund/ECCF” (ECCF, 175 Andover Street, Suite 101, Danvers, MA 01923), or via our online link to ECCF from www.friendsofandovertennis.org.
