Most people would find it helpful if you would compare Andover's costs with those from other similar communities. Might also be interesting to show what costs were two or three years ago.

I think it is worth pointing out that this "average cost per student" is not the same as "the cost to add an additional student" (i.e., the marginal cost per student). Many of the components of this average do not change when a small number of students are added or removed. When the community is assessing the cost of new students from, for example, a new housing development, this "average cost per student" does not provide a useful measure of the incremental cost for the new students.

Does this cost analysis include the cost of new schools or major renovations that are not part of the school's operating budget?
