Andover's Yastrzemski Drafted By Seattle Mariners

The baseball standout was drafted Wednesday.

Michael Yastrzemski was drafted by the Seattle Mariners today.

Yastrzemski was chosen in the 30th round of the MLB Draft, overall the 911 pick. He has until July 13 to sign a contract.

The St. John's Prep graduate and Vanderbilt student was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2009 but turned it down in order to go to college. He is the right field starter for Vanderbilt.

Michael's father was a third-round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in 1984 and played for the White Sox at the Triple-A level. Michael's grandfather is the Red Sox Hall of Famer.

The Red Sox drafted Michael Yastrzemski in the 36th round in 2009, but he chose to go to college.
