After 22 years with The Tonight Show, Jay Leno has said goodbye to the late night show… again.

Leno has hosted the show for years — except for a brief stint in 2009 when he was let go and replaced by Conan O’Brien — after taking over for Johnny Carson.

He has called the gig as Tonight host “the greatest 22 years of my life.”

"I'm really excited for Jimmy Fallon. It's fun to be the old guy and see where the next generation takes this great institution," he said. "And in conclusion, I want to quote Johnny Carson: 'I bid you all a heartfelt good night.' "
