Summer's officially over, but the weather doesn't seem to know that. Temperatures are expected to be in the 70s and 80s Saturday and Sunday, with clear sunny skies. And the weekend will have lots of fun activities for North Andover, so take advantage of that warm weather.
Movie Night: The Unitarian Universalist Church on Locke Street will host a Free Movie Night Friday at 7 p.m. In honor of the International Day of Peace, this will be a special screening of "Hibakusha, Our Life to Live," a film about the survivors of the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The director of the film, David Rothauser, will be on hand and will conduct Q&A and a brief talk after the screening.
Giant Yard Sale: On Saturday, the Department of Community Services will host a Giant Yard Sale in the Park, starting at 8 a.m. Set-up is at 7 a.m. Bring your own table. If it rains, the Yard Sale will be held on Sunday. Call the DCS Info Line for weather related cancellations at 978-623-8279.
CrossFit Andover Open House: Looking to stay in shape this autumn and winter? Check out CrossFit Andover, 22R Dale St., at their Open House Saturday.
Concert: On Saturday, Keith Lockhart and Friends will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Collins Center for the Performing Arts at Andover High School, presented by the Northern Essex Community College Foundation, the Women of NECC, and the NECC Alumni Association. Proceeds will benefit NECC’s Endowment Fund.
Military Weekend: In addition to their fall Festival this weekend, Smolak Farms will have Military Families Weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, local and regional military families are invited as guests of the farm to spend the day picking apples in the vast Smolak Farms orchards. The first 200 military families to visit Smolak Farms will receive a complimentary gift basket, a half-bushel of apples, pumpkin, apple cider and more.
