FBI: Man Killed in Florida in Connection with Marathon Bombings

During a confrontation with the FBI and the Mass. State Police, a Florida man was shot and killed and an officer was injured.

One man is dead and an agent is injured after a confrontation between the FBI and Mass. State Police in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing in the Orlando area on Wednesday morning.  The FBI on Wednesday morning said an agent, two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing when he attacked the agent.  The FBI identified the person shot and killed as Ibragim Todashev, age Saea27. During the confrontation, Todaschev was shot and killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries.   "As this incident is under review, we have no further details at this time," the FBI said.

The log is open to the public.   Friday, May 17 At 12:29 p.m. police arrested Alexis Raul Gonzalez, of 107 Margin St., Apt. 1, Lawrence, on Main Street. Gonzalez was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and a marked lanes violation.  At 11:08 p.m. police stopped a New Hampshire resident who said she was lost and appeared to be under the influence of a substance. Police eventually arrested Krystal Duval, 21, of 16 Frost Road, Derry, N.H., on River Street. Cyclist Medflighted after Crashing in Harold Parker

North Andover and Andover Fire helped remove an injured mountain biker from a remote location in Harold Parker Forest earlier Sunday morning.

Andover Fire received a call Sunday morning regarding a mountain biker that took hard spill on a steep trail in Harold Parker Forest. With the biker found to be in North Andover, both town's Fire staff worked to locate the injured man, who was more than a mile from the trail entrance on Middleton Road.  According to North Andover Fire Lt. Graham Rowe, emergency staff first got the call around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and Andover Police were first to arrive.  "He sustained a pretty good knock on the head," Lt. Rowe.  After North Andover Fire came shortly, staff from both had to prepare the victim to be treated by paramedics. Should DUI Alcohol Limit Be Lowered To 0.05 Percent?

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends reducing the limit. Some say it would save lives. Others say it's unreasonable.

  One drink could be the standard for drunken driving – at least for some people if the National Transporation Safety Board has its way. On Tuesday, the NTSB recommended states lower the blood-alcohol threshold for driving under the influence from 0.08 percent to 0.05 percent. What do you think? Is the proposal reasonable? About 10,000 deaths a year are related to drunken driving. The NTSB says the lower limit would save 500 to 800 lives a year. Officials at the American Beverage Institute called the proposal "ludicrous." It said the average woman could reach the 0.05 percent limit by having one drink. There were 114 DUI fatalities in Massachusetts in 2012, which were 34 percent of traffic-related fatalities last year, according to Mothers…

Police Stepping Up Patrols of Haggetts Pond Following Quabbin Incident

Haggetts Pond, Andover's water supply, will be receiving some extra attention due to recent events.

With recent news of the individuals arrested outside of the Quabbin Reservior yesterday, Andover Police will be adding some extra patrols of Haggetts Pond, the town's water supply.  Early Tuesday morning police found five foriegn students, from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Singapore, in a restricted area arround the Quabbin Reservoir, the drinking water supply for many communities in the state, including Boston. While the five were determined to be just recent college graduates, the incident is causing police to take special notice around water supplies.  In Andover, Lt. Tuesday, April 30 At 4:07 p.m. a caller reported that a man in his early 30s was urinating on his neighbor's lawn on Basswood Lane. He left the area in a silver Lexus with two other male passengers. At 6:31 p.m. a female caller reported that she was in a car with her boyfriend and he will not let her out. The female was eventually6 dropped off at her workplace and an officer spoke with the boyfriend. Boston Police: Three New Bombing Suspects in Custody

Officials stress there is no threat to the public, details still emerging.

Boston Police announced a major new development in the Boston Marathon bombing case Wednesday morning. According to the department, there are three new suspects in custody. Boston Police tweeted the news just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. There were no further details, though the police said they would offer more information soon. There is no additional information being released at the moment. BPD said additional details will be provided when they become available.  Police stressed there was no immediate threat to the public. I don't think that's very fair to say "well if you don't like it, there's the door" when we're talking about regional stories. You simply can't apply Westford rules to regional stories.
