How to Get Your Sports Team Featured on Patch

Here are several ways you can make sure your sports teams are highlighted on Andover Patch.

Spring sports will soon be kicking into high gear and Andover Patch wants to help you share every exciting moment with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to share their team spirit on Patch. News about any team -- high school, middle school, rec teams, etc. -- is welcome! Here's how you can share news about your sports team: 1. Start a blog about your sports team: Share stats, recaps, photos and/or videos from the game in your own sports blog. Discuss the team, coaches and players with other fans in the community. 2. Upload pictures and video of your team to our gallery: Snap an awesome photo at the game? PHOTOS: Phillips Academy Athletes Raise Over $3,000 for One Fund

Two Phillips Academy students ran a 16-mile relay on Sunday to raise funds for victims of the Marathon bombing.

Two Phillips Academy students ran a 26-mile relay race from Boston to Andover on Sunday and, in the process, raised a significant chunk of change for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.   Starting at the Boston Marathon finish line at Copely Square, the girls, Phillips Academy students Peyton McGovern and Olivia LaMarche, ran a relay race all the way to Phillips Academy. When all was said and done, the girls raised over $3,000 for the One Fund Boston. Students to Run from Copley Square to Phillips Academy

Two Phillips Academy students are showing their support for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings by raising funds with a run from the Marathon finish line to the Andover private school.

In an impressive showing of support and commitment, two girls from Phillips Academy will be running the distance from the Copley Square Boston Marathon finish line all the way to Phillips Academy. According to Amy LaMarche, Phillips Academy students Peyton McGovern and Olivia LaMarche will be making the roughly 22-mile relay run in order to raise funds for the One Fund Boston. The run is taking place today, Sunday, April 28. They plan to finally arrive at the Main Street campus somewhere between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.  With the help of family, friends and the Andover rotary club, the two girls have already raised roughly $2,500 for the One Fund, with donations continuing to come in.  Check back with Andover Patch tomorrow for photos from…

Synchronized Swim Team to Put on Show in April

ANA Synchro, the Andover/North Andover YMCA’s synchronized swim team will perform its 38th annual show twice on Saturday, April 20 and again on Sunday, April 21.

ANA Synchro, the Andover/North Andover YMCA’s synchronized swim team will perform its 38th annual show twice on Saturday, April 20 and again on Sunday, April 21.  This event will feature 85 members of this nationally ranked team, including two ANA Synchro swimmers who are also US National Team members.  Because ANA Synchro spends much of the time on the road competing and training, traveling as far as Los Angeles, Arizona and to the well known, Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY, this is a rare opportunity for the local community to see just what synchronized swimming is all about. The show will be held at the Andover/N. Andover YMCA on Saturday, April 20th at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available …

Andover Athletes Competing in Shriners Football Classic

Three athletes from Andover High School will be among the 100 football players chosen to play in the annual Shriners Football Classic.

Three Andover athletes will be playing in the Shriners Football Classic this year on June 15 at Gillette Stadium. The event, on its 34th year, raises funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children and, to date, has raised over $1 million. The game features 100 athletes from 69 high schools across the state, and will be a competition of high school athletes from North of Boston against those from South of Boston. Both playing for the north team, wide receiver Cameron Farnham, wide receiver Will Heikkinen and quarterback Carmen Scarpa III were the three Andover High School students chosen to play in the classic. Andover Sending Four Teams to the Playoffs

Four Andover varsity sports teams are moving onto the playoffs in their divisions in Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

There are just a bunch of proud Andover parents out there this week, with four Andover sports teams competing with the best in their division in the playoffs.  Both the girls and boys basketball teams as well girls gymnastics team are all scheduled to play this week in the first round of the MIAA playoffs.
