Phillips Andover Alum Named to Time's 100 Most Influential
Phillips Academy alumnus Ai-jen Poo was recognized in Time Magazine for her work she has done to gain labor rights for domestic workers.
A Phillips Academy alumnus was recently named to Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Ai-jen Poo, from the class of 1992, is being recognized for the labor advocacy work she has done on behalf of domestic workers—ie, nannies, maids, housekeepers, and elderly caregivers-- who have historically been excluded from most major labor laws. Dubbed the "nannies' Norma Rae" by the New York Times, her efforts have led to the founding of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and the passage of the first-ever Domestic Workers Bill of Rights by both New York and California.
