Andover Business Association Changes Name

The Andover Business Center Association will now be called the Andover Business Community Association.

The local business network in Andover, formerly called the Andover Business Center Association, has just announced a new name. The new name, the Andover Business Community Associaiton, is geared to welcome all businessess in Andover. "We have changed our name to encompass all the business' in Andover instead of the idea we were just for the down town business. Our goal is to help represent and drive business to all of Andover," read a post on the Andover Business Community Association facebook site. The organization will continue to go by the acronym the "ABCA." The newly renamed organization will be meeting next at Palmers in the Salon at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29. Park Street Hair Salon Moves Inside Indra Salon

When Salon Navid's lease was up on Park Street, the owner looked for a new location.

This past fall, Navid Nickpour, owner of Salon Navid moved her business inside Indra Salon, 8 Main Street. Salon Navid now joins Coco Collection and Chill Spa and Indra in sharing the 4600 square feet space. Andover resident Nickpour said she decided to leave 63 Park Street when her lease was up, and she began looking for more affordable space. “Being here helps each other out. It doesn’t make much sense to spend $100,00 to start up in a new location when I can be in this beautiful space,” she explained. The salon has 4 stylists including Nickpour, and they all take pride in providing personal service. “We like to treat people as individuals, and making people feel better about themselves is rewarding to us,” she said. PROFILE: Andover Hockey Shop

The popular spot for hockey gear in Andover also carries equipment and apparel for all sports.

Andover Hockey Shop, 342 North Main Street, is a well-known establishment in Shawsheen Village but what some might not know is that they sell more than hockey gear, according to owner Chris Gravell.   His grandfather started the business in 1968 as a hockey shop, at the time Bobby Orr and the Bruins were “huge.” It has since evolved to include all team sports, and 15 types of Andover apparel and accessories, he explained.   While hockey remains the most popular category, the shop outfits teams and individuals from Andover and surrounding communities, according to Gravell.   He explained they carry gear and apparel for lacrosse, football, soccer, field hockey, baseball, basketball, softball and in-line skating. Pizza Connection to Open Soon in Downtown

The former Dominos Pizza location on Park Street will soon be occupied by a new pizza shop.

Andover may have recently lost My Brothers Pizza but a new pizza shop is right around the corner from opening in downtown Andover. The Pizza Connection will be opening up in the former Dominos Pizza location. Dominos Pizza moved to the unit next to the former Yama Japanese Restaurant on Park Street. According to health director Tom Carbone, the owners have already gotten all construction permits from the town and are now working on preparing the interior of the store. Carbone said as soon as they are finished with the inside construction, they plan to open. "We are waiting for them to finish that up. Then we will do our final inspections," said Carbone. He said that the last time he checked they had been installing the refrigeration units…

Andover Inn Changes Ownership to Conn. Firm

Ownership of the Andover Inn, which includes Samuel's Restaurant, changed hands recently and the new owners came to the town for new permits.

A Waterford, Conn. company, Waterford Hotel Group, recently purchased the Andover Inn, which includes Samuel's Restaurant, and obtained new permits from the Board of Selectmen Monday night. After discussion and some light grilling, the board unanimously approved a liquor license, common victuallers license and live entertainment license, in three separate votes, for the new owners. The Waterford Hotel Group, under the name WHG Andover Inn, LLC, bought the Andover Inn and Samuel's from former owner Armark Educational Services. The new manager of record for the Andover Inn is now Charles L. Moran. Andover Inn is located at 4 Chapel Ave., Andover. Salvatore's to Open in Early November

A representative from Salvatore's Restaurant said they would be opening in two months when obtaining approval from selectmen for their liquor license.

Salvatore's Restaraunt received both their liquor license and common victuallers license Monday night at the Board of Selectmen's meeting. After granting both the liquor license and victuallers license, selectmen wanted to know when the store would be opening. Peter Ackerman, who will be the manager of the restaurant, attended the meeting last night and told the board that they hope to open within the first two weeks of November. The restaurant will located in the former Rugged Bear location at 34 Park St. The Andover location will be the fifth Salvatore's Restaurant to open in the Boston area. Salvatore's operates establishments in Boston's Theatre District, Boston's Waterfront, Medford Square and Lawrence.

Platinum Dance recently opened up at 7 Iceland Road in Andover offers training to all ages and skill levels. Platinum Dance focuses on pushing students to excel in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz.
