Memorial Hall Library card holders can access a large collection of eBooks and audio books.
It's 2013 and in this futuristic-sounding year, it only makes sense that you can now borrow a book from the library without leaving your house. Memorial Hall Library is promoting an online service called OverDrive, a site that hosts an online lending system for Merrimack Valley libraries. Andover residents with library cards can visit the Merrimack Valley OverDrive site to borrow from a collection of a large variety of ebooks and audio books. Library patrons can borrow up to 5 titles at a time and lending periods vary between titles. But, for those library debtors, the system will not allow anyone to borrow ebooks or audio books with an outstanding library debt over $10. To find out more and begin borrowing visit mvlc.lib.overdrive.com.

The library is making these changes because, simply, there is a need for more room for people and a better way to display non‐fiction books. The Andover Library currently has power and is a defacto shelter for those without power.
With roughly 75 percent of the town without power, it is a fortunate fact that Andover's Memorial Hall Library does. Library Director Beth Mazin said it is being used as a defacto shelter right now and is a haven for those without power. Mazin said the library is available for all residents to charge cell phones, laptops and other electronics as well as to use the internet. Library will stay open this week from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and is welcoming residents who need to use the libraries resources. Town offices are closed today as well as many downtown shops. However, both the Gulf Gas Station on Main Street and Mobil Gas Station on Main Street are open. The Mobil on Route 133 is closed.
