The Friends of Andover Tennis will host its Casino Night auction fundraiser in one week from this Saturday in downtown Andover to ultimately fund renovated tennis courts at Andover High School.

The Friends of Andover Tennis will host its Casino Night auction fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., in downtown Andover at the Town House Function Hall (Old Town Hall) in support of the AHS tennis court renovation project. Our casual-attire event will feature a silent auction, casino games for door prizes, fun attractions, a cash bar, delicious light catered food, live music, and entertainment by acclaimed comedian Tony V! This Friday dogs are allowed in the pool at the Andover/North Andover YMCA.
It's exactly what it sounds like. Doggie Dip. The folks over at the Andover/North Andover YMCA want area residents to come by this Friday evening to take their dog for a swim. Before the pool is drained for the summer, the YMCA has invited area dogs to come by for a swim in the pristine pools at the facility. Doggie Dip is happening this Friday, Aug. 24 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Andover/North Andover YMCA pool. The YMCA is charging $20 a dog and all proceeds benefit the Reach Out for Youth and Families Scholarship Fund. Proof of rabies vaccination required.

The Andover boys took down St. John's Prep in a tournament over the weekend.
The Golden Warriors basketball team has taken the win over St. John's Prep this past Saturday at the Hoops for Hope tournament as a great start to the season, according to an article in the Eagle Tribune. Andover defeated St. John's 57-46 in the annual tournament. Andover stars Chris Dunn and Sam Dowden stood out during the game with Dunn scoring an all-time high of 20 points and Dowden putting back 16 points, in addition to his many rebounds. Andover has filled the spot of former athletic director Chris Bergeron.
The Andover High School athletic program has received a new leader. Following the resignation of Chris Bergeron, the town has hired Don Doucette to take over as Andover High School's new athletic director, according to an article in the Boston Herald. Doucette had been working as the athletic director for the Hamilton-Wenham public school system when he was hired by the town of Andover. Doucette has more than 25 years experience coaching basketball and was able to lead Hamilton-Wenham's athletic program to success, despite an all fee-based system. The Andover U-9 Blue boys baseball team won the Salem, N.H. Summer Slam Tournament this past Monday, July 23. The boys ended with a 5-1 victory in the final game. The team was lead by 14 players who all contributed consistently throughout the 6 tournament games, according to one parent. The players include Stephen Ingram, Aidan Cammann, Ryan Grecco, Anthony Tiberio, Matthew Theriault, Conor Moses, Jake Brezner, James Mahoney, Jack Cloutier, Nicholas Cantalupo, Luke Poirier, Terry Morrissey, Vincent Giurleo and Ryan Rigazio.

There's a variety of structures at the Andover Skate Park to ride and those who frequent the park find unlimited ways to use these ramps, bowls and boxes to air, grind and speed. In addition to skateboards, scooters have become much more prevelant at the park; just don't call them razors!

Andover American, one of Andover's little league baseball teams, lost in the sectional championship game on Sunday against powerhouse Acton-Boxborough.
The Andover American Little League Baseball team showed a lot of heart this season and made it to the sectional championships this year to face Acton-Boxborough. But the team fell to the exceptional opponent, whose pitcher struck out 15 Andover batters, according to an article in the Eagle Tribune. Andover American lost to Acton-Boxborough 5-2 in the section championships at Beverly's Harry Ball Baseball Complex. Andover American allowed A-B four runs in the first inning but was able to pull through and gain two runs in the second inning. The U14 Division 1 girls team, the Andover Shock, won the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions yesterday at the Mass Youth Soccer complex in Lancaster. The team had to advance through 3 round robin games Friday and Saturday in order to advance to the semifinals on Sunday morning. They secured a 2-0 victory over a very strong Duxbury team, and advanced to the finals against Franklin. As one of the most memorable games in Andover Soccer Association history, the team battled back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. Just 2 minutes into the game, Franklin scored their first goal, and at 5 minutes in, the second. Their third goal at 25 minutes in would have had most spectators and players believing this dream run was over for the Shock. But the…

The Andover Soccer Association's U-14 Boys Warriors were runners-up at this past weekend's Massachusetts Tournament of Champions, played at Citizens Bank Fields in Lancaster, MA. After winning the Essex County Championship without conceding a goal, the ASA Warriors advanced to play the winners of the nine other Mass. Youth Soccer regions. The Warriors stormed through group play, winning 2-1, 5-0 and 2-0 against Stoughton, Scituate and Athol. The Warriors faced off against a talented Dartmouth squad in the semi-final but dominated play and won 4-0. They met Dorchester in the final for a hard-fought, physical match, with each team converting on a penalty kick. The …
