Fire on Crescent Drive Leaves 11 Apartments Uninhabitable

Firefighters battled a blaze that began in a lower apartment unit in a building on Crescent Drive shortly before midnight on Sunday.

Andover fire officials say that 11 apartments in a building on Crescent Drive will be uninhabitable for at least two weeks due to a fire late Sunday night. Deputy Fire Chief Al DelDotto said that firefighters responded to the Crescent Drive fire at approximately 11:38 p.m. Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames coming from one lower apartment in the 12-unit apartment building. DelDotto said the fire was under control within a half-hour. Firefighters, led by Deputy Chief Kevin Conners, also saved two individuals from the building that could not escape on their own; one through a balcony with a ladder and the other was carried from a second floor apartment downstairs to the exit.
