Bancroft Topping Out Ceremony on Wednesday

Town and School officials will be celebrating the completion of a major milestone for the second of three phases for the new Bancroft Elementary School.

This Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. please join Skanska USA and Bancroft Elementary School in Andover for a Topping Out Ceremony to celebrate the completion of a major milestone for the second of three planned phases for the new school. As part of the ceremony, the students of Bancroft Elementary School will sing the Pledge of Allegiance as the American flag is raised and the steel beam is lifted onto the school’s frame (please see additional event logistics below and attached). The project includes the construction of a new 106,486-square-foot building adjacent to the existing Bancroft Elementary School that first opened in 1969. Skanska Signs $34.5 million Contract to Build Bancroft School

Skanska USA, headquartered in New York City, will handle construction management for the Bancroft Elementary School construction.

Skanska USA announced today that it has signed a $34.5 million contract to provide construction management services for the construction of Bancroft Elementary School, a public school for the town of Andover, Mass. The project includes the construction of a new 106,486-square-foot building adjacent to the existing Bancroft Elementary School that first opened in 1969. The new building will accommodate 680 students and will include classrooms, administrative space, as well as a library, gymnasium, playfield and cafeteria.  The town of Andover is seeking LEED Silver certification for the school by incorporating various sustainable elements into the project’s design, such as rainwater harvesting systems, extensive recycling of building …

Bancroft School to Break Ground in the Fall

Officials are hoping to start roadway improvements this summer.

The Bancroft Elementary School has been awaiting reconstruction and, now, town officials are hoping that they have a firm grasp on when the project will break ground. Lawsuits by abutters slowed the project but officials say that the legal problems are now conlcuded and the town can start planning the preparation for construction. Selectman Brian Major updated the town on the Bancroft Elementary School project during Annual Town Meeting Monday. Major said that lawsuit delaying the school project is now closed and the town can start looking forward. Town contractors will be working on roadway improvements to prepare for the school construction. Major said that they hope to break ground on the school this fall. Approved at Special Town …

PHOTOS: Bancroft Fairytale 5K

Bancroft Elementary School held a 5K road race Saturday morning to raise funds for PTO programs.

Dozens of kids particpated in a fundraiser race and some even dressed up like their favorite storybook character...or just spiderman. Students lined up by the dozens to take part in the "Book it to the Finish" 5k road race Saturday along with other adult runners. The Bancroft Parent Teacher Organization held the fundraiser with the help of local sponsors. The PTO also brought in volunteers from Merrimack Track Team as well as countless Bancroft parents and teachers. The fundraiser will support PTO events at the Bancroft School. Sponsors for the race include Andover Liquors, Skanska, Uni-Weld, AceHomedics, Lawrence General Hospital, Andover Pediatrics, Town and Country Storage, Inc.,  and The Savings Bank.
