Storybook Characters to Race in Bancroft 5K

Runners will be dressed as their favorite storybook characters.

The Bancroft Parent Teacher Organization is holding their first annual fairy tale 5k race this Saturday called "Book It to the Finish." The fundrasier will also include a roughly one-mile kids race as well. This race is different in that kids, as well as all participants, will be dressing up like their favorite storybook characters while they run. The kids race begins at 8 a.m. at the Bancroft Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 15, and the 5k race starts at 8:30 a.m. All race participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite storybook character. Special Town Meeting Preview

Voters will address a proposed $44 million reconstruction of the Bancroft Elementary School. The Special Town Meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Collins Center in the High School.

The town is gathering the taxpayers tonight for a major decision on the proposed $44 million reconstruction of the Bancroft Elementary School. Voters will also decide on whether to buy land to make a larger playing field complex, accept a $259,600 grant and transfer a chunk of land from the town to the school. The Special Town Meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Collins Center in the High School. Article 1 The town is proposing once again to purchase a parcel of land to increase the size of a proposed athletic field complex Blanchard Street. The total cost of the land is $290,000.
