The Blizzard of ’78 has to be the most photographed and videoed winter storm in New England history. Images of stranded cars, battered coastlines and children playing in giant snowdrifts are all vivid memories of that historic storm. As New Englanders, we commemorated the 35th anniversary of the storm earlier this week – and now Mother Nature is celebrating herself with what could be one of the biggest snowstorms in history. Andover Snow Parking Ban in Effect at 7 p.m. Friday Night

A Snow Parking Ban will be in effect for all streets in Andover starting 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 until further notice.

This was provided by the Town of Andover. A Snow Parking Ban will be in effect for all streets in Andover starting 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 until further notice. No vehicles shall be parked overnight on any street, or positioned in any driveway or lot at anytime in such a manner as to interfere with snow removal and sanding operations. Vehicles found in violation shall be ticketed and towed at the owners expense. Thank you for your cooperation.

Winter Storm: Andover Information Center

ANDOVER PATCH STORM CENTRAL UPDATES, CLOSINGS & MORE: Saturday, Feb. 9 1:17 p.m. the Governor has announced that the driving ban will be lifted today at 4 p.m. 12 p.m. Andover Police have not yet had to issue any tickets for driving around but have pulled a few people over. 10:30 a.m. Andover Police report that the town is doing fine and have not had any major incidents. 9:30 a.m. all MBTA lines are still out of commission and probably will be until Monday. 9 a.m. looks like Andover survived the night without any power outages.  Friday, Feb. 8 10:54 p.m. all of Andover still has power, according to National Grid, while entire towns such as Quincy are without it. 9:15 p.m. Channel 7 reports from Chateau parking lot in a feature about the "…

MEMA Issues Tips For Staying Safe in Extreme Cold

Temperatures are expected to dip down near single digits.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow and says that temperatures will hover in the mid-20 degrees. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has issued a set of tips for staying safe in extreme cold conditions. "As we enter the time of year when we can expect extremely low temperatures and wind chills, we all must take precautions to minimize the dangers presented by such severe weather," stated MEMA Acting Director Kurt Schwartz. "To that end, MEMA presents these cold weather safety tips." The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency provided the content for this article.
