UPDATE: Students to Face Disciplinary Actions for Hazing Incident

Andover School Superintendent Marinel McGrath said there were violations of school policy as a result of the alleged hazing incident.

Students will face a variety of repurcussions as a result of an investigation into allegations of hazing by Andover High boys varsity basketball team members at a basketball camp last July, superintendent Marinel McGrath stated. Marinel McGrath released a statement (see PDF) recently that said there were violations of school policies in connection with the alleged incident. "I am saddened to report that the investigation has concluded that there were violations of the policies," said McGrath in the press release. "I am prohibited by federal and state laws from disclosing information about individual student discipline. Week in Review

Sports and the Holidays

This is the Week in Review for the week of Dec. 19 to Dec. 26.

This past week in Andover was slow but understandably. The kids were off from school starting Thursday and many were gearing up for the Saturday Christmas this year. This week was busy in sports, however. The varsity boys basketball team has kept their lead after beating Methuen on Thursday. The varsity girls basketball team also took down the competition during a game this week.. Girls varsity ice hockey ended up tying Westford Academy and the varsity boys wrestling team came in 9th place at the Sons of Italy wrestling tournament. Town officials recently spoke with representatives from Stop and Shop and the grocery store chain announced that they will be opening up a store in the spring.
