UPDATED: Cellar Fire Put Out on Fosters Pond Road; Firefighter Hurt on Ice

All the residents got out safely. The home suffered fire and smoke damage.

It's been a long shift for Andover firefighters. Thursday night one of the Andover engine units battled a huge fire on South Broadway in nearby Lawrence. Then early Friday morning a cellar caught fire on Fosters Pond Road back in Andover. There was smoke but no flame visible when units arrived at 4 Fosters Pond Road this morning at 6:47, Deputy Chief Al DelDado told Patch. The fire apparently began in the cellar and was contained to that area. Firefighters had the blaze under control within 30 minutes. They're still investigating the cause, but early indications are it was accidental, DelDado said. One firefighter slipped and fell on the ice that quickly formed in the frigid temperatures. House is on Fire on Fosters Pond Road

Firefighters are battling a two-alarm blaze in a two-story wood-frame house.

UPDATE, 8:36 a.m. Friday — The fire is out. All residents escaped unharmed, but a firefighter slipped and fell on ice that quickly formed in the frigid temperatures. Here's an updated story. ~~~~~ Firefighters are at 4 Fosters Pond Road trying to put out a blaze in a two-story wood-frame house. There is a report that one firefighter may have suffered injuries. UPDATED: Two Alarm Fire on Atwood Lane

Firefighters contained a structure fire on Atwood Lane around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters from the West Station in Andover rushed over to the house fire on Atwood Lane after a call came in shortly before 4 pm. But the fire had gained so much of a headway, Fire Chief Michael Mansfield said, that the first responding firefighters faced a heavily involved fire. Mansfield said that the entire rear of the structure has been damaged by the fire and that there is smoke and water damage throughout the entire house at 6 Atwood Lane. Firefighters, including those from Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury and Lawrence, contained the fire at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials do not know the cause of the fire at this time.
