This employee in a chicken costume was outside of Stop and Shop last Friday.
If there's one thing that Andover is lacking, it's people dressed up like giant chickens. So, thankfully, Stop and Shop has stepped in to fill that role. This guy (or gal) was giving out free chicken samples Friday afternoon at the North Main Street supermarket. Standing next to the chicken is Tewksbury resident Christine Bornstein. This is the Week in Review for the week of Dec. 19 to Dec. 26.
This past week in Andover was slow but understandably. The kids were off from school starting Thursday and many were gearing up for the Saturday Christmas this year. This week was busy in sports, however. The varsity boys basketball team has kept their lead after beating Methuen on Thursday. The varsity girls basketball team also took down the competition during a game this week.. Girls varsity ice hockey ended up tying Westford Academy and the varsity boys wrestling team came in 9th place at the Sons of Italy wrestling tournament. Town officials recently spoke with representatives from Stop and Shop and the grocery store chain announced that they will be opening up a store in the spring. It was also discovered this week that …

Thank you for specifying organic vs. the inaptly named "conventional" (organic has been around for thousands of years, "conventional" methods just since WWII) in the chart. I'm willing to pay more for higher-quality produce created by farmers who care for the land, but I don't see why Whole Foods should be so much higher-priced for equivalent "conventional" produce. Thanks for this series.   more ›
