It took two days, but Andover was able to beat Bridgewater-Raynham to advance in the MIAA Division 1 East Tournament.
The Golden Warriors lax team started their first playoff game on Wednesday evening but it was not until Thursday afternoon that it finished. On Wednesday night, the Warriors hosted the Bridgewater-Raynham Trojans for a preliminary round matchup in the MIAA Division 1 East Tournament. Andover jumped out in front and led 5-2 at halftime. Then with 5:55 left in the third quarter, lightning struck off in the distance. The players, coaches, and referees hoped to continue play but the lightning would not subside. Before the night was over, Andover High was treated to a unique lightning show off in the distance. The teams picked up it yesterday afternoon right where they left off in the third period. After the layover, the Warriors and Trojans …

This is the Week In Review for the week of Monday, Jan. 27 to Sunday, 2.
The town received its first taste of winter after the storm early last week that brought roughly a foot of snowfall accumulation. Residents, meanwhile, are getting used to a new parking ban used during snow events. The storm did lead to numerous photographer opportunities as well. Andover sports also proved to be a force in the most sensational news this week after both the girls and the boys varsity basketball teams earned championship wins in the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament. In the holiday limbo period between Christmas and New Year's, town government stayed to a standstill, with Monday's storm cancelling what few meetings that were scheduled. The town, however, is gearing up for a Special Town Election on Jan. 25. A rollover …

The first large storm of the season brought roughly a foot of snow to Andover but appeared to be subsiding as of mid-afternoon Monday. However, highway officials say that the storm will continue to require attention until tomorrow morning and snow removal will continue throughout this week. Andover Police have not lifted the parking ban and parking on the side of the street or sticking too far out of a driveway is prohibited. Police say that it is too early to tell whether the parking ban can be lifted tomorrow. Officials report that people stayed off the roads and the town, fortunately, did not see too many emergencies. Power outages were minimal and National Grid is not reporting any outages in Andover as of Monday afternoon. Police Lt. …
