The Golden Warriors kept it close for much of the afternoon, but top-ranked Lincoln-Sudbury repeated their victory over Andover in last year's sectional finals.
Following the script of last year’s Division 1 North Sectional Final, the Warriors of Lincoln-Sudbury will once again head to the state girls’ lacrosse semi-finals, defeating Andover 12-7 on Wednesday. This year Lincoln-Sudbury had home field advantage, but the visiting Golden Warriors drew first blood, with two goals from Ally Fazio and Weezie Gross in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Lincoln-Sudbury countered quickly with a pair of goals in just over two minutes from Abby Quirk and Rachel Sexton to even things up, beginning a run that led to a 5-2 advantage for the home squad at the break. However, Andover would start the second half with an extra player thanks to a yellow card by Quirk on a free shot just three seconds before the …

The Golden Warriors saw their softball season end on Tuesday in Acton with a resounding 10-0 defeat at the hands of Sarah Ropiak and the Acton-Boxborough Colonials.
Despite a few raindrops in the fourth inning, all of the thunder at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School on Tuesday afternoon was coming from the home team’s aluminum bats. The Colonials gave the visiting Golden Warriors of Andover a 10-0 trouncing, giving them a berth in the Division 1 North Sectional Softball Semifinals. There they sent 12 batters to the plate, punctuated a series of at-bats that brought consecutive RBI singles from Sarah Ropiak, Hannah Graney and Nicole Geoffrion and a grand slam from Lindsay Chen. On the mound, Ropiak was equally dominant, allowing …

Last night, the Warriors calmly went into North Andover, hostile as it will ever be, and came away with a gutsy, season opening win. Andy Coke, senior superstar, put things in perspective after the Warriors’ 30-20 win. “At this point in the season they weren’t as good as us,” said the star running back. “We still respect them as a team, but we went into this one thinking we were the better team,” Coke said. Coke carried the ball 21 times for 130 yards and a touchdown. Andover faced a pair of deficits that seemed like they would spell doom for the 2011 opener. Instead, the Warriors under head coach E.J. Perry, pulled through with a character-revealing victory. “We love the Andover, North Andover rivalry,” said Perry. Andover overcame three …
