Give New Life to Your Dusty School Yearbooks

Consider donating your Andover High School yearbooks to MHL.

Memorial Hall Library is seeking donations of Andover High School Yearbooks (Punchard Free School/Punchard High) to fill the gaps in our Local History Collection.  There are also plans to digitize the books to make them easily accessible to researchers, genealogists, alumni and others.  Please check your bookshelves, attics and basements!  We are looking for the following years:  If you would like to donate your yearbooks, please bring them to the Reference Desk on the first floor of Memorial Hall Library.  Please call Kim Lynn at 978-623-8401 x36 if you would like to donate a yearbook but are unable to get to the library. We appreciate your assistance!

Bewitched in Andover

This was submitted by the Andover Historical Society. Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble! In 1692, Andover was involved in one of American history’s most infamous events, the Salem witch trials. In fact, Andover has the distinction of having the most confessed witches and the highest number of children arrested during the trials. Between July 15 and Sept. 17, 1692, 48 of the 158 people accused of witchcraft in Essex County were from Andover, a town with a population of only 600. Photo of the Day: Rose Cottage

Regular Andover Patch contributor Kristina Trott submitted this image of a flower garden outside the Rose Cottage.

The beautiful and historic Rose Cottage is looking good today with a full bloom of flowers. The cottage, built 1784, is the notable location where French aristocrat and military officer Marquis de Lafayette addressed an assembly of townspeople in 1825. Do you have a Photo of the Day?
