Life Lines: the Art of Elizabeth Enders

This weekend's event is an exhibit at the Addison Gallery.

Stop by the Addison Gallery of American Art this weekend to take a look at the paintings and paper works of Elizabeth Enders, made from the 1970s to the present. The gallery comments "this exhibition focuses on the artist’s ongoing interest in language and mark making in objects that are both referential and abstract." This exhibition is only open until the end of the month. The Addison Gallery of American Art is located at Phillips Acadmey, 180 Main St., Andover. The museum is located off of Chapel Avenue on the Phillips Academy Campus. The museum is free and open to the public. Hours of operations are as follows: noon to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Two New Exhibits Open at Addison Gallery

Oil paintings, watercolor art, and Maine’s beautiful landscapes are just some of the artwork on display at the Addison Gallery of American Art.

On Saturday, January 28, the Addison Gallery of American Art at Phillips Academy opened the doors to two brand new exhibitions, one on John Marin, a well known watercolorist, and an exhibition featuring nine contemporary painters all focusing on the state of Maine. The Addison and the Portland Museum of Art came together to organize “John Marin: Modernism at Midcentry,” an exhibition that will remain open through April 1st. Marin is known as one of America’s top watercolorists and oil painters. Marin lived until 1953 when he died at the age of 83. “Land, Sea, and Sky: Contemporary Art in Maine,” an exhibition that will run through March 18, also opened on Saturday. First of Three New Exhibits Opens at the Addison Saturday

Three exhibits will be rolled out in January at the Addison Gallery of American Art.

On Jan. 14, the Addison Gallery of American Art, located on the campus of Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., welcomes the first of three new exhibitions. Open Windows: Keltie Ferris, Jackie Saccoccio, Billy Sullivan, and Alexi Worth kicks off an exciting winter season, followed by John Marin: Modernism at Midcentury and Land, Sea and Sky: Contemporary Art in Maine on Jan. 28. In celebration of the new season, the Addison is holding an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the museum, free and open to the public. Art Gallery Reopens on Main Street

Owner Peter Alpers has reopened Alpers Fine Art directly across from CVS in downtown.

This press release was submitted by Alpers Fine Art. After a three-year absence, Andover institution Alpers Fine Art has reopened on Main Street. The contemporary-art gallery, which earned both "Best of Boston" and "Best of Northshore" awards in 2006, has just opened for business at 77 Main Street, diagonally across from CVS. The current exhibit, called "Small Wonders," runs through Dec. 30 and emphasizes small, lower-priced paintings. The works come from more than 20 artists, including local some talents from nearby Lowell, Peabody, and Newburyport, and others from as far away as Baltimore and Paris.
