This press release was provided by the office of Governor Deval Patrick. Governor Deval Patrick and Sen. Barry Finegold last week congratulated the Andover High School Division I State Championship girls basketball team during their visit to the State House. “I am proud to congratulate these talented players on winning the State Championship,” said Governor Patrick. “This title is a testament to their teamwork, dedication and passion for the game and each other.” The Andover High School Girls basketball team, the Golden Warriors, won the Massachusetts Division I State Championship by defeating Holyoke on March 17. The Dynasty came through for a win at the state championship once again.
Nicole Boudreau and the bunch headed over to Worcester to compete in the state Division 1 final game…for the third time. And they had no problem coming out with the win against Holyoke to become state champions once again. The Andover Lady Warriors took down Holyoke Saturday night in the state Division 1 final game, 61-45, at the DCU Center in Worcester. Check out all of the action, minute-to-minute, in our live blog. The Andover girls are taking on Holyoke High School in the state Division 1 final game Saturday night at 5:45 p.m. after an undefeated season. Nicole Boudreau and company had too much fire power for Braintree Tuesday night and continued their undefeated rise to the state championship game.
The Andover girls stayed within two points of the Braintree squad for the majority of the state Division 1 semifinal game Tueday, with Braintree holding a steady lead. But the Lady Warriors, with stars Nicole Boudreau and Jackie Alois, rained down threes to take a commanding lead in the fourth quarter, eventually coming home with a win, 54-39. Andover Patch will be featuring a live blog of the state Division 1 Semifinal game against Braintree, which starts at 7:45 p.m.
For the third year in a row the undefeated AHS girls basketball team is competing in the state semifinals against Braintree High School at 7:45 p.m. tonight at the TD Garden. Andover Patch will be running a live blog at the start of the game with minute-to-minute updates on the state semifinal match. Andover took down Masconomet in the Division 1 North finals last weekend and beat Central Catholic in the North semifinals last Tuesday. Boys Basketball Despite a hazing scandal that set the tone of their preseason, the Andover High School Warriors basketball team won its season opener, 63-49 over the Methuen Rangers. James Costello (19 points) and Sam Dowden (15 points) led the Warriors in scoring. Chris Dunn had 12 points and added a pair of three-pointers. Andover was in control throughout the evening. The Warriors scored 16 points in each of the first two quarters to claim a 32-23 halftime lead. The Warriors put up another 31 points in the second half to coast to a 14 point win.
