Andover firefighters made an "aggressive attack" on a Hampton Road house fire Saturday night and fought the blaze from inside the home.
The Andover Fire Department responded to a one-alarm house fire at 9 Hampton Road at around 10 p.m. Saturday night. Andover Fire Deputy Cheif Al Deldotto said fire crews contained the basement fire in roughly a half hour after arriving at the scene. The home was occupied at the time of the fire but the occupants, which included a husband, wife, daughter and dog, were able to safey exit the home without injury. They are currently staying with neighbors. Deldotto said firefighters made an "aggressive interior attack" with multiple hoses when first arriving at the home and were able to contain the fire to the basement. Andover emergency and fire crews responded to a basement fire around noon on Friday.
Andover firefighters used several hose lines to fight a basement fire at a single family home at 84 Haverhill Street Friday afternoon. Fire officials said the fire began in the basement and spread to parts of the second floor and a small part of the third floor. Haverhill Street was closed down for over an hour in order to safely fight the blaze. No one was reported injured in the blaze. At approximately 1:30 p.m. firefighters were still on the scene making sure the fire was not still smoldering inside the walls of the older home. Andover Fire Chief Michael Mansfield said that the house fire at 6 Atwood Lane was difficult to fight in particular because the fire had become so heavily involved by the time the first responders arrived. Fire officials contained the fire at around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday evening. Take a look at a video of the incident.
