Andover resident Deborah Sloan says that online dating isn't always easy, especially for older adults that haven't been in the scene for a while. Writing profiles can be awkward and those looking for dates can get nervous or self-conscious while trying to sum up their individuality on a web page. This is where Sloan comes in. She's offering a service specifically designed for 40-plus adults looking to start dating online and need help getting themselves out there. With the help of several consultants, It's a Date offers profile writing assistance for those that are just starting online dating or have tried it and been unsuccessful. The popular fitness facility, which will be open 24 hours, is currently pre-selling their memberships with a $1 down.
Planet Fitness, 209 North Main Street, Shawsheen Plaza, plans to open its 17,000 square feet facility next month, at the former location of Marshalls, according to Manager Krista Moulton. The space has been vacant since March 2011 when the store closed and moved to Lawrence. The Andover franchise is one of five locations owned by the North Shore Fit Management. The group owns existing clubs in Methuen, Billerica and Newburyport and will also open soon in Reading, according to Moulton. The Planet Fitness corporate office is located in Newington, NH. The restaurant owner is using recipes handed down from her grandmother for the cuisine at One Thong Chai Thai Cuisine, an incoming Andover eatery.
One Thong Chai Thai Cuisine, 12 Post Office Avenue, is planning to open early March, according to Owner Apple Tomamichel. The new Thai restaurant will be located in the space, formerly occupied by My Brother’s Pizza, which closed this past August. Tomamichel, who moved from Thailand in 2000, currently lives in Methuen with her husband and two children, 6 and 8. She owns a Thai restaurant with the same name in Fitchburg. Although she has only been opened there for 9 months, she explained she had been looking to open a restaurant in Andover for a while. “My husband works at Raytheon, and I know a lot of people in town,” she explained.
