Can I Be Ticketed at a Broken Parking Meter? The short answer is no. If you're only planning to spend a few hours in downtown then parking staff will not ticket you for parking at a broken meter. However, if you leave your vehicle in a broken spot all day long or for multiple days police say that you may be at risk of getting a ticket.

In a continued series on parking in downtown Andover, Andover Patch this week is comparing how Andover's parking revenues size up against the parking revenues in communities with similar downtowns. Andover Parking Control Officers go out of their way to give students at Phillips Academy $20 parking tickets for attending school and parking on Salem St. Parking turnover isn't a big issue on Salem St. and Parking Tickets are not suppose to be issued to generate revenue!!! As many locals know parking in downtown can be trying at times. Between the availability of spots, the cost of parking, or the possiblilty of a ticket, it can be difficult to take a quick trip into downtown. i unfortunately live uptown and our land lord offers no parking so we are forced to park in the municipal lots and pay out the nose for it and god forbid there is a snow storm, they won't allow you to park over night w/out a minimum of a ticket and in a large storm they will tow you,i live here and pay my taxes and support the local economy and find this unacceptable! there should be a resident …   more ›
