Street cleaning continues but residents are beginning to emerge from their homes.

Once the governor lifted the driving ban at 4 p.m. the streets in Andover once again became frequented by non-plow motor vehicles. While the traffic wasn't significant, there was a steady flow of vehicles throughout Route 28 and the many arteries around it. The Andover Public Works staff will continue street cleaning into tomorrow and possibly Monday. Police say that the plows were able to get out and attack the storm much more effectively without traffic on the roadways. However, police still had to stop a few motorists to tell them to get home, but writing no tickets. When all was said and done, Andover had roughly two feet of snow from this weekend's historic blizzard, with National Grid spotters in Methuen and Topsfield reporting 24.5 …

Light, fluffy snow on rooftops can act as a sponge for rain, which is in the forecast for Monday. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency offers these tips.

With rain in Andover's forecast for Monday, the Blizzard of '13 may not be finished wreaking havoc in Massachusetts. While temperatures dropped overnight on Friday resulting in light, fluffy snow, he Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) warns that fluffy snow piled high on roofs can act as a sponge, absorbing rain and adding additional stress to structures. Relatively flat roofs are particularly vulnerable, MEMA says. In other cases, roof ice dams have formed causing water build-up, leading to interior damage. These conditions can accelerate the snowmelt. Andover Parking Ban in Effect Until Further Notice

The Andover parking ban will be in effect for an undetermined amount of time while the town continues to clear the streets.

This was provided by the Town of Andover. A Snow Parking Ban went into effect for all streets in Andover starting 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 and it will continue to be in effect until further notice. No vehicles shall be parked overnight on any street, or positioned in any driveway or lot at anytime in such a manner as to interfere with snow removal and sanding operations. Vehicles found in violation shall be ticketed and towed at the owners expense. Thank you for your cooperation.
