Photo of the Day: Blanchard Street Fields

The Blanchard Street athletic field project is coming along after years of planning.

Town officials, volunteers and private fundraisers worked tirelessly to garner funds and ensure passage of the Blanchard Street athletic field project. The complex is producing three more baseball diamonds and a soccer field for the town's athletic programs. Work crews will begin on the parking lot soon.

Wow, I actually came to the site today just to see if I could find any info on how this was going (it's right next to my childhood home.) Cool photos!   more ›

Photo of the Day: the Wheelie Guy

This man can be found going up and down Main Street...always riding a wheelie.

This photo was taken a number of weeks ago and I recently found it in my camera but I thought it was appropriate to feature him in one of Andover Patch's "Photos of the Day." This guy can be found at any point along Main Street in Andover and Broadway Street in Lawrence on his bike, always riding a wheelie. It's fairly impressive if you ask me. Has anyone every seen him put his front tire down?

Photo of the Day: Tsunami Cloud

This unique cloud hovered over I-495 Monday afternoon.

Ok, so this photo was also featured in yesterday's "five things" but I felt that it merited its own feature. This spectacular cloud hovered over I-495 along the Lawrence-Andover line Monday evening. As seconds passed, the "wave" got taller.

Photo of the Day: A Foundation on Tewksbury Street

Workers on Tewksbury Street do not have much in the way of shade working outside today.

A construction crew has been out on Tewksbury Street recently working on a house foundation. Hopefully, they're staying hydrated!

Thank you both for your comments. They give me reason to believe that there are people in town who still care. What adds to this horrible tragedy is that it is directly across the street from a major wetland, filled with peepers each spring. Another neighbor tried to stop this lot from being destroyed but was unsuccessful. They have constructed a large retaining wall behind the foundation. I am …   more ›

This week's photo shows the majestic bird hanging around the Phillips Academy Pond.

Photo of the Day: Stop and Shop Chicken

This employee in a chicken costume was outside of Stop and Shop last Friday.

If there's one thing that Andover is lacking, it's people dressed up like giant chickens. So, thankfully, Stop and Shop has stepped in to fill that role. This guy (or gal) was giving out free chicken samples Friday afternoon at the North Main Street supermarket. Standing next to the chicken is Tewksbury resident Christine Bornstein. Photo of the Day: Swans on Pomps

We featured a couple swans on Fosters Pond not too long ago and a reader just found a couple at Pomps.

Here are two swans in Pomps Pond photographed by Andover Patch reader Nicolas Siraco. Andover Patch featured two swans on Fosters Pond not too long ago. Is it possible that this is the same couple? Do you have a Photo of the Day? Send it to editor Brendan Lewis at brendan.lewis@patch.com.
