Meet the Business Owner: Amy F.

Amy Finegold--I knew from an early obsession with shopping and a fascination with dressing up that I wanted to open a clothing store. I spent 14 years, three during college and 11 afterwards, working in small boutiques in Cambridge and Boston, learning about the world of fashion, business, buying and management. In September of 2004 I realized my dream of opening a store. I grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and graduated from Tufts University with a BA in French and Art History. My first jobs in retail were at the Gap, then at JasmineSola in Cambridge, then Serenella on Newbury Street selling high end clothing such as Marni, Moschino, Pucci and Dolce & Gabanna. My next job was as an assistant manager at Country Road, followed by a management position at Louis Boston. The following year I returned to Country Road as the store manager. In 2002 I married my husband Barry and moved to Andover. Country Road closed its American division and I commuted to the city to work at TASTE boutique, a small, Scandanavian high end clothing store on Newbury Street. I left TASTE and the commute behind when I became pregnant with my daughter Ava.

We've been very busy since then! In 2004 and 2005 we won the Best of Boston award for best women's clothing store in the North, along with awards Best of New England and Best of North Shore. My final achievement of 2005 came in December with the birth of our second daughter, Ella.
