Andover Resident's Business Helps Grownups Date Online

Resident Deborah Sloan is aiming to help the 40-plus crowd with online dating through profile assistance.

Andover resident Deborah Sloan says that online dating isn't always easy, especially for older adults that haven't been in the scene for a while. Writing profiles can be awkward and those looking for dates can get nervous or self-conscious while trying to sum up their individuality on a web page.

This is where Sloan comes in. She's offering a service specifically designed for 40-plus adults looking to start dating online and need help getting themselves out there.

With the help of several consultants, It's a Date offers profile writing assistance for those that are just starting online dating or have tried it and been unsuccessful.

A consultant will contact the client over the phone or Skype and will interview them about themselves. They will then write up a profile for the client and help them apply it.

“We’re there to write them profiles, and give them tips but we’re there also to hold their hand,” said Sloan.

Sloan officially launched the business roughly two weeks ago and has already seen a steady stream of customers.

What makes It's a Date unique, Sloan says, is that the consultants working with clients have specific skills in understanding the needs of those 40 and over when it comes to online dating profiles.

"We get that age group. We understand that age group," said Sloan. "And we try to capture the client’s tone."
