As the kids head back to school, parents often think about the quality of their community's schools.

Boston Magazine recently published its 2013 "Best Schools" list, and Andover made an impressive showing.

Editors at the magazine ranked Greater Boston school districts using data from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education relating to student-teacher ratio, cost per student, college enrollment, test scores and more.

Of 147 communities, Andover was ranked at number 33. Andover schools have an average class size of 20.9 with a 14/1 student-teacher ratio. And 89.1 percent of local high school graduates attend college.

In 2012, the magazine ranked Andover schools at number 38 out of 135.
