Your Guide: Cosmic Celebration

The Harvest Moon is here, and summer turns into autumn this weekend as the equator aligns with the center of the sun before the northern hemisphere starts to tilt away from the sun.

And you can celebrate the cosmic transition with your community.

The Shawsheen River Watershed Association will host its Third Annual Autumnal Equinox Celebration at Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pomps Pond Recreation Area.

Activities will include:

  • Short Program on astronomy, history and culture of the equinox.
  • Live music provided by Joe's Garage.
  • Boating on Pomps Pond. The boats and gear are available on a first come, first served basis, but you can also bring your own boat.
  • Playground equipment.
  • Campfire.
  • Small charcoal fire for cooking S'Mores and toasting marshmallows.   People should bring their own food, and children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult while at the cooking fire.

Admission is free and open to the public. Bring your own chairs and refreshments (alcoholic beverages are not allowed).
